Unfortunately, I am one of the supplemental dorm students. And our check-in dates are Aug 22-25. If we were to check in early, like on the 22nd, would we get the dorms we prefer? It really sucks to not know what dorm you are going to be living in until the day you check in!!!! What kind of system is that?!

maybe, maybe not- the only dorms with enough space for the supplemental people are Jester and maybe Kinsolving-so we don't exactly have a dorm choice, do we?

supplemental space="why didn't you apply early like everyone else and decided to have a study lounge (or basement) to live in for about 2 to 4 weeks but hey at least you people get a 10 percent discount while you are living there with 3 other people." (well, the 2-4 weeks thing is something I read from a previous post)

If you check in early(before the 25th) you still have to pay 35 dollars a night.

Anyway, no use to be all mad about it anyway-if u didn't want supplemental, you could have just thrown away the 50 bucks and tried a space in a private dorm like the Castillian, Towers or Dobie. Now that we're all stuck with supplemental, the best thing we can do is just learn to live with it.

If you want to know more about housing etc., try IMing utexashousing at 3:30-4:30 today (and Friday, I don't remember what the times are for other days)

Castilian and Dobie still have rooms I think

meh...true to that "i am who i am"
I thought I would be attending another college, the University of Chicago, Emory University, or Washington University in St. Louis, but the financial aid did not work out until the last minute. So I had to choose UT, but in a positive way. I paid the deposit in early but not for the housing. Therefore, I got stuck with the supplemental.
I assume you are supplemental too?
And I am not complaining or anything. I just want to make the best out of supplemental, that's all.
And thanks kcirsch. I considered Castilian and Dobie a long time ago, but I thought it would be a whole lot easier to make new friends by staying in on-campus dorms.

yes, I am the supplemental space **god./b

Anyway, I IMed housing, got a real confirmation that people in supplemental housing will be in for at least 2 weeks, and at the most a whole semester. Duren will be opening up in the spring, so I bet there will be enough rooms by then.
About 350-400 people are in supplemental.

Housing people are all very very nice, extremely fast repliers to email and stuff:D

yeah, well sorry if I was a little too harsh on you, just tired of some people complaining about supplemental space instead of doing something about it or just living with it.

congrats to getting in to those unis, sorry they didn't work out.
