To those who got in, what were your SAT/ACT scores?

Hi. I'm sorry if this post seems rude or imposing to ask your SAT scores but my daughter is very set on attending Pepperdine. Therefore, I wanted to see if I could find out any current student's SAT/ACT scores to see what she should be aiming at. I know I can see official scores on Princeton Review.com but I was hoping for a more personalized answer. For example, if you didn't score that high but you made up for it other areas like ECs, grades, etc.

Thank you so much

i wanna know the same thing. and what SAT scores those who received Regents scholarships had? i need $$$ to go here..

Yes so does our daughter :)

Friend's daughter had a 30ACT, strong GPA/curriculum, few EC's. They think bulk of her scholarship $$ was awarded based on Church of Christ affiliation.

My D got in with a 2000+ SAT ( she would ony take it once), 4+GPA, urm, I thought "perfect for Pepperdine" EC's , reccs, and essay ( she did not choose them for Pepperdine, they are just who she is, and why she applied to Pepperdine). She got no money though.

Wow, Shrinkrap your daughter had really high SAT scores. I'm not sure my daughter is on the 2000 level, more in the 1700-1800s. Do you think she has a shot to get in with not so high SAT scores?

If your daughter re-takes the SAT, she could probably bring them up significantly and have a better chance to get in. :]

Yes she is going to re-take in October of her senior year. She was never really strong on standardized tests like Terra Nova - always in the above average percentile but never in the high 90s. Her GPA is a 4.0 though; ranked 10 out of about 250-270 not sure off the top of my head. A lot of ECs. I'm hoping her strong school academic grades will account for her "average" SAT range.

I don't think high SAT scores are what they are looking for. Check out the application essay questions.

Okay, I will.

If she is not strong on the SAT, have her try the ACT. Sometimes this format is better for some students.

Phillies-- Is your D a Church of Christ member? Although not a requirement for admission, it's definitely a plus with scholarship awards. Friend's D was offered a package worth 30K and her stats were similar to Shrinkrap's D. She wasn't a URM, but she offered geographic diversity. Her essays/recs were likely strong, but her EC's were weak. However, her most valuable EC was the Church of Christ membership. Every college has its hot buttons and CofC seems to be a "hook" when it comes to money, more so than SAT/ACT scores. USNWR lists SAT 25/75% as 1130-1350 and ACT 25/75% as 24-29.

Unfortunately, no we're not Church of Christ. My daughter attends a Catholic school and has since first grade. Is this a disadvantage?

*note: unfortunate in the sense of COC seemingly getting a lot of scholarship $$$

My friend did tell me that the college made a couple of requests to her D for a rec form/letter from a clergy member of their church. From that, they assumed that her generous package was heavily tied into her COC affiliation. Perhaps the college awards similar packages to non-COC, but others here will have to post of their experiences.

MY D also attended Catholic School from K. She did not get scholarships, but she was a transfer. She did get some nice grants. I think being affiliated to a church is important for admissions. The largest denomination at Pepperdine is Catholic. For a few years there has been a concern to increase the COC population especially with faculty.

Over the past two years on this board, the trend is that COC get great scholarships. We were pretty happy with our financial aid packet, but my D will be paying some loans when she graduates. Pepperdine does have their own loan that are 0% interest, which are very nice

Hope that helps. BTW, she loves the school!

First of all, to anyone reading and posting in the future, JC is absolutely INCREDIBLE- the definitive source of information and support for all potential Pepperdine students and parents.

Both of our twins were admitted for the upcoming year-D for Fall of 08 and S for Spring of 09-. D's SAT CR+M=1320, GPA ( W) 4.56, 7 AP's, varsity tennis for 4 years, tons of EC's , gold medal National Latin Exam,

For S- SAT =1240 GPA=4.45, 6 AP's, varsity tennis for 3 years, similiar EC's , Prefect of House ( British House system in Cathollic school)

Unfortunately, neither child received any merit $ and 6-7 other colleges where they were accepted provided generous merit packages. I agree with prior posts-USNWR 25-75% seems pretty correct on scores-pay close attention to essays and I would not count on merit $ unless you/child are COC, URM, or athlete. Unfortunately, we had our hopes up for merit dollars and thought at least one of two would be in range for $.

Pepperdine is a fabulous school and the kids who are there seem very happy. Good luck to you!

I received a 1390/ 1600 (670 M and 720 CR) and 2060/ 2400 (670 W) on my SATs, and a 31 on the ACT (I don't remember all of the subscores off the top of my head, but I think I got 35 on reading, 33 on math, 34 on writing with a 10 on the essay and 23 on science, which really dragged down my score). I'm in the top 10% of my class, although this was not reported by my school with a 4.4-ish weighted GPA (my school doesn't calculate unweighted GPAs), had a fairly rigorous high school curriculum with 7 APs, pretty good ECs, and decent essays. Unfortunately, I did not receive any scholarship money which was very disappointing but I love the school anyway and will be attending in the fall. If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me.

My D was accepted to Pepperdine last year. She fell in love with the school, and was hoping for a good merit scholarship. She was valedictorian (1/525), 31 ACT, 4.0 UW GPA, can't remember weighted GPA. She is NOT COC. She was admitted for business but got -0- merit $$. Many with far less qualifications who were COC got significant scholarships. Pepperdine was not very good with following up on her question and she just didn't get the feeling they "wanted" her. She made a late application to the University of South Carolina after deciding on Intl. business for her major. They had the #1 program in the country for IB, so she made a very last minute trip down to Columbia. She fell in love with the place, and they made sure she knew they wanted her to attend. She did not get scholarship money for first semester since she missed all the deadlines. She also was too late to apply to the honors college, but was one of 6 students admitted for the second semester. That came along with a good scholarship. In the end, she had a wonderful first year (4.0), joined a great sorority, made a ton of friends, and saved her grateful parents a boat-load of money.

kmkord, good to hear from you...been awhile! So glad to hear that your D is so happy and doing well at U of South Carolina! Things happen for reasons and it seems she has found a great fit! Congrats and enjoy the next 3 years will fly by.

Thanks JC!

We are actually considering joing COC since we have decided to drop out of our Catholic faith. I still have younger D's ages 6 & 8. Maybe they'll be interested in Pepperdine when the time comes. :0)
