To Those Who Have Applied To Carnegie Mellon SAMS/AP/EA Question

I have a few questions..

I read somewhere on this forum that someone tried out for SAMS and was bumped up to AP/EA. So does that mean AP/EA is more selective/prestigious than SAMS?

-Are these programs only for underrepresented minorities?

-Can one apply to both programs simultaneously?

Thanks in advance for the insight!

Yes you can. When you filled out the online application, you were supposed to rank your preference for each program (1,2,3…). If you don’t remember doing that, you may want to write them a quick email to clarify your preference ASAP.

BTW, AP/EA has more advanced courses, while SAMS has a fixed set of schedule and classes. If you are a rising seniors who has been an advanced student in math and science, the AP/EA might be a better choice for you. Take a look at the courses offered and decide.
