To those who scored 700+ on Math portion...

Just wondering...what is the maximum number of questions you can get wrong while still getting above a 700 on the Math part of the SAT? I understand that there is no concrete number but just give me an approximation based on your own experience. Thx!

You can MISS about 3~4 to get 700 or above provided that you get everything else correct.

5 wrong in May gave me a score of 700. I think a couple were probably grid ins, though.

but aren't there like three math sections in total? This means that I can only miss about one or two for each 25 question section...... : 0!!!!!

I missed 2 (1 I lost 1/4 of a point, the other nothing) and received a 740.

the curve is a devil.

But with the PSAT's you can miss about three and get about a 70...so since there are more questions on the SAT, shouldn't you be able to miss a few more?

2 omit = 740 for me

Yea, it all depends on the curve for that particular version of that test. My math section was quite difficult, so 2 wrong/1 omit only dropped me to a 770. I also heard a kid in my school saying he omitted 1 or 2 and he still got 800...

Edit: I just remembered that another kid who had the same version as me got 5 wrong and ended up with a 740. But someone else I know got 6 wrong and got a 680 or 690.

The SAT Curve is really bizarre. Basically they want to fill their quota of # of people getting 800s, 750s, and 700s. So you are more competiting with everyone else than with the test.

the SAT math curve has been getting really tight lately.

When I took it for CTY in 2002, I got 3 wrong, which became a 780

I took the test in March 2005 and 2 wrong was a 760 for me

I took it again in June, and 5 wrong = 700...

Is it just me or am I getting mathematically dumber as I get older?

Once you get in the 700s, it's all stupid mistakes. I've gotten between a 680 and 770 on practice tests in just a period of one month.

my friend got 10 wrong and still managed to score 800! so.. don't worry too much!

That was probably that SAT MATH IIC, jenny.

oops... sorry. my bad.

roflnooblar

10 wrong on SAT 2 Math is 800???

ya depends, but usually around there. I got 3 wrong in may and got a 720.

Hmm??? Big difference between 10 wrong = 800 and 3 wrong = 720... Which one is it?

wow. one is SAT I and one is SAT II

and no, for 2c it isn't 10 WRONG. its 10 OMIT on the most generous of curves. usually, its raw 42-44 out of 50 for an 800. 10 WRONG would be a raw score of 38 out of 50. kthanksbye =]
