To those who've been told they don't have a chance...

I've read so many "chance me" threads that had applicants with similar stats as mine that have been told that they didn't have a great chance of admission. Reading those posts made me so nervous, many applicants had better stats than me and they weren't given very postivie feedback. Well, I just recieved my letter of acceptance to UW! I had a 3.6 unweighted GPA and a 26 on my ACT. The essays and your extra C's really do count!

I just wanted to say that there is so much that goes into acceptance decisions and that if you have less than "stellar" stats there is still hope.

It will all work out in the end!

congratulations man

A person with a 3.6 is expected to get accepted.

You do realize a 3.6 is .4 away from a 4.0, right? That’s still a very good GPA, and you were expected to get in in the first place.

Congratulations though! :)

Congrats! :)

thanks =]
I’ve seen multiple chance me threads that had around a 3.6 and they were told their GPAs were too low.

Just curious, can you tell us what some of your ECs were and what type of classes you took? Were u an ap/honors student? Congrats on the acceptance!

Are you in state or out of state?

3.6 is just under the average admit GPA, so as long as everything else was in line it doesn’t seem that surprising.

What about a 3.5?

We’ve been told by friends who have kids attending or did attend, that 3.6 and up for out-of-state is a good chance. 3.0 and up for in-state is a good chance. And being able to play football or basketball very well is the best chance … one of the realities of life, at least college life. =)

The average GPA last year was 3.72, the mid 50% ACT was 24 - 29. A 3.6 and a 26 puts one just below the average (where about 50% of students reside). With an increase in applications and some cut backs in slots this year that puts one in the high/match category. The ECs and essays are what tip the scales (though not much of a tip is needed).
