To UNC alumni/current UNC students...

I am applying to transfer to UNC for next fall, and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in reviewing/critiquing my short essay.

I also have another question, is UNC strict about the word limit for their essays? For the question I have to answer, it says limit 250 words, but I am at 397. Do I need to shorten it?

Thanks,

I transferred this year. I would recommend you do not go over the word limit. The essay isn't all that they look at. Your essay should be succinct and to the point. Keep your grades above 3.5 and you should be in. Also, a letter of recommendation or two doesn't hurt at all.

i went over my word limit in my essays, but i tried to rephrase things and delete any unnecessary parts just so it wouldn't be too far over the word limit.

Hm, okay, I guess I'll try to cut it down a bit. 250 words is just so short to me. Anyways, slayerdeus, since you're a transfer student, when do you hear by? Do they wait until both of your semester's grades are in, or what?

I heard in Mid-April.
