To Waive or Not To Waive

If we don't waive our rights to see the rec letters if we get accepted and matriculate, is it looked on negatively by the admissions officers? Secondly, once we send the application in, are we allowed to change our rights from waive to not waive and vice versa? Thank you.

just waive it...and no of course you can;t change it. If you get accepted u get to see ur rec anyways even if u waive.

if you waive it you never see it.

i wrote, " I don't waive" will that actually hurt me?

if you dont waive your recommendations they will be heavily discredited

crap :/ i didn't mean to, i didn't know they would be looked at differently either way

=( srry i didn;t no for jhu waiving it means u can;t see it...for some other private colleges if u get accepted u get to see ur recs but if u don;t get accepted u never get to see ur recs...but waiving is still a must...or ur rec is worth very little...plus it is a mutual resp u r giving to the person u r asking for the rec

Crap!!!!!!!!!!

darkhope i have no idea what you said lol

am i basically screwed?

anyone?...

omg i'm sooo sorry...yess irap is correct if u waive right u never see it...but thta's fine w/ me...

no but i didn't, will that screw me over?

also i mean i feel like if i don;t waive my right it seems like i'm distrusting that recommenders comments...that was what i meant by mutual respect

physics i really don;t no...

let's just put it this way.
the recs won't help you

ok wait just checking, if we were using the reg app. we did not have to indicate that we waived our rights right? since there was no area to indicate that?...and also...for supplementary recs if there was no evluation sheet attached to it...would we still have to somehow attach a separate peice of paper indicating that we waived it...since we didnt; have to do that for the reg. recs from teachers and counselors?

Let's settle this debate simply...

IT DOES NOT MATTER

The question about waiving your rights is on the Common App not the JHU App. The reason because we do not think it is a necessary question.

We assume that all counselor recs and teacher recs are written honestly, truthfully, and providing us all the information we need -- whether a student waives their right or does not waive their right. We really would hope that a counselor and teacher would still write the most honest rec. letter even when a student does not waive their right. No matter, we just don't look at that when reviewing applications.

Plus, if we ever need more information, we will pick up the phone and call your counselor or teachers. We will get the information we need.
