When I registered for the ACT, I chose 4 colleges for the score reporting. Would the admission officers of the colleges to which I sent my scores still know my ACT scores if I chose not to write it on the Common App? Because I want to write down my SAT score instead.

Maybe I’m not understanding your question…you sent official ACT score reports to 4 schools and you’re asking if they will know your ACT scores if you don’t self-report them on your application, is that right?? If that’s what you’re asking, then yes, they will know your ACT scores. Anytime you send in an official score report it goes into a folder with your name on it, and that’s where your application goes too; when your file is complete, they look at all of the pieces and evaluate you.

Yes, thank you. I sent the score reports to the colleges knowing that I would do adequately on the ACT test, but I did not do as well as I had expected. So, I am anxious about the colleges looking at my score even if I did not self report it on the application. Let’s say I do not self report the score on the application; then would the discrepancy automatically get me rejected?

I doubt it would get you automatically rejected, but it might make them wonder why you didn’t self report all scores. If you have already sent the score reports, then there’s no gain and possible loss in not self reporting all scores. Schools usually only take the best score, no matter when you took it, so just report them all and move on.
