To you current UCSD students, what were your HS stats?

hi, i've been really nervous recently about colleges, and so i thought that if i saw some of your stats, i could more effectively gauge where i am.

sure, there are essays and a bunch of other variables to the admission process, but if any current ucsd students could post their year, ucgpa and SAT scores, that'd be awesome and much appreciated.

thanks. :)

soph gpa = 3.1 w
jr gpa = 4.3 w
act = 31
sat 2 = 1340 (for both)

..with a bunch of Cs

..don't worry too much brian

why don't you use a "search" function?

I've been seeing these posts since last september

i'll be a freshman this september...
gpa: 4.17
sat: 2010
sat II: spanish 800, u.s. history 730

GPA 5.0
SAT 2500

If you want to gauge your chances, plug your stats into this formula:

http://www.geocities.com/kisasong/UCSDComprehensive.htm

iloveyouasafrien, what word should i search for to get therse kinds of threads?

also, slorg, that website isn't nearly as good as comparing to people that have actually gotten in.

I thought you wanted to judge your chances. That page shows the formula that UCSD uses. The cutoff is usually around 7500.

The UCSD population on CC isn't really representative of the UCSD population, so I don't know how useful asking is. Plus, self-selection biases the answers even further.

Here's this year's admit thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=157509&highlight=stats+admitted

Here's another thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=197572&highlight=stats

thanks man.

wow, that site is really helpful- i found one on UCSD's site that was kinda vague and annoying >.<
do you think the minimum requirements would change for year to year? or at least probably not a lot?

i meant this http://www.geocities.com/kisasong/UCSDComprehensive.htm site

it isn't 100% accurate but at least it gives you a good overview of what is going on at UCSD admisisons.

i'm close to the borderline. :(

what exactly does this mean: "Participation in pre-collegiate/motivational and enrichment programs: AVID, EAOP, commercial and school test preparation courses, etc."?

I can't put it any clearer than that....

test prep courses and motivational enrichment programs?

does the sylvan learning center and SAT prep classes count for this category?

yup...pretty sure they do

damn, awesome.

more points! :)

yup, more points. i didn't know that when i applied so i didn't even bother putting that in my application :/. oh well, at least everything turned out well.

in the app, i believe there's a box to put that in?

yea, there's a section for it.

Hey I need help with that formula.... it says
"The number of A-G semester courses beyond the minimum specified for UC eligibility"

How do I know if get points for that? Is that for all the courses I take in my years of high school? Well here is what I have taken:

Freshman: 10 semesters
Summer: 2 semesters
Sophomore: 10 semesters
Summer 1 semester
Junior: 12 semesters
Senior: 10 semesters

All of those courses are real classes (not PE/Athletics). If I add all that I have taken so far I get 35, but if I include next year (senior year), I get 45 semesters. How many points should I be giving myself? Am i doing it incorrectly anyway?

Thanks in advance for your help!
