Today Is Judgment Day!!!

this is the day i, and i assume all of us, have been waiting for, i applied dec 10th and have sat through all other college decisions ultimately waiting for this one...i stayed up till 2 am (pacific time) and couldn't sleep, they told me my decision was mailed the 30th, so assuming it's a priority mail (ACCEPTANCE PLEaSE) it should arrive in my hands in about 1.5 hours CMONNNNNN, who else is about to die waiting for this??

Everyone at my school has heard from USC, but none applied to engineering. Is engineering rolling too? Or do they send all of theirs out at the same time? I hope I don't get rejected :(. stats if anyone is curious

1380 (670M 710 V)
690 2c 630 chem 630 writing
96/748 (freshman year hurt) 4.0 W gpa (IB scale)
good EC
good essay

futuretrojan, how did you find out when your letter was mailed? i called the admissions office with a different question and they seemed really annoyed so i didn't ask haha

i just asked them when my decision was mailed and he looked it up for me...BUT APPARENTALLY NOTHING CAME TODAY SO *** ARGHHHH im gonna call and find out whats goin on - this doesnt look too good

:( let us know what you find out

Nothing came. I assume I was denied. Oh well, occidental for me :)

First of all, don't rule out that you might have been accepted to USC.

Secondly: I'm like the opposite of you. I got accepted to USC a week ago, and on Monday I got my waitlist letter from Oxy (which sort of surprised me).

So you got in Oxy? Congrats. What're your stats, though? I thought I had a good chance at Occidental based on my stats, but apparently there's "no space at the moment" for me.

I just spoke to USC and they said that the decisions were mailed today, April 1st. But it is strange because so many others have heard. I really do think that this time is reserved for those who did not gain admittance. Anyway, my stats:

SAT: 1130
SAT II's: In the mid 500's
GPA: 4.0 unweighted. I take both french and spanish. I have had 8 classes per year since freshman year. I am ahead of my class in math and I take the most difficult schedules out of everyone. I took two courses at UCSB and one at College of Marin. I did rather well in those with two a's and one C+.
Rank: 4/90. Why? Because I take so many classes that my GPA cannot be as high as those with a smaller class number per semester. I take 8 where others take 6 or 7.
EC's: I write poetry and coordinate surf cleanups for
www.surfpulse.com, a surf website in San Francisco. Coached a girl's soccer team. Did other trite things. I interned at a law firm for two summers. Taught myself to play guitar.
Essays: I wrote a poem about riding my favourite surfboard. I explained the poem to be a euphemism for making love to my girlfriend. It was a huge risk and I see that Brown and Georgetown did not like it, though Oxy did.
Hook: I am already taking spanish and french. I independently study German and Farsi--my stepmum is from Iran. I am of Arabic descent. Also, I was elected to be a Youth Exchange Leader for Rotary International and study abroad in Finland. This is pretty cool I gather.
Awards/Clubs: A lot. Speech and debate, language clubs, and awards for being top in my classes.
Reason for getting in: I come from a diverse background and am very motivated to succeed. I am also very original. And the reason for my low SAT is that I never once studied or prepared for it. In retrospect, I wish I had. I could have killed that test if I really wanted to. Oh well. I choose Oxy over USC any day.

We few, we final few. Good luck to everyone. Although I doubt I got in, I'm positive most of you did. Only time will tell.... I suppose time, and the mail on Monday.... Here's to biting my nails until then... Good luck, all.

i still did not receive anything in the mail from USC

what are you guys stats?

you're not alone, my son is also waiting. on another thread, someone said they got an email today that they were accepted and that the letter was coming. no email in our household.

you know what? it's not the end of the world. for whatever reason, it just wasn't meant to happen.

it's always something though. either you have great stats and need scholarship/fin. aid and then that doesn't happen, or you have the money but don't have the stats. such is life....

i have a 3.7 UW and a 1320, with 680/620/600
lots of involvement and lots of leadership
good recs, good essays
although there was an error on my personal information section in which i mispelled the word "cantonese," as in the language, by putting a "K' instead of a "C"....and i pray to God that did not create this stalling of my decision

but i called and frickin admitted the error and they said it played no role and i hope i can take their word for it...ARGH another night of no sleep!

yea i sent in my mid year report like a week ago so i really didnt expect it to come today

welp..... son went online to ck the website that he submitted his mid year grades on and evidently didn't realize you needed to also send a hard copy. guess that would be a good reason for them to reject him. could be the reason he hasn't heard anything yet.

midyear report is optional, it is not required. if they need it to make their final decission they will request it. it should have no effect on whether or not your son gets in.

they did request it, that's the problem!

Ginnynicksmom, I submitted via mail, not online, so I can relate to your pain. It shouldnt be a problem. Your son will do fine, I'm rooting for him... I, on the other hand, am sans hope, and feeling less than confident.

"futuretrojan, how did you find out when your letter was mailed? i called the admissions office with a different question and they seemed really annoyed so i didn't ask haha"

hahah me too, the lady was like *ed of or something, she just kept on assuring me that i'd get them on the 30th, but i wanted to tell her im from canada but i was afraid, cause she seem to be *ed off so i just said thank you and hung up...
