i had to rush the last few question on the reading. what was the answer to the one where it asked what scientists define flying as??? i put being able to go higher in air. the other choices were gradual decrease, steep decrease, and one foot down for every foot horizontal

I also put “mountain weather”, “larger wingloading, lower maneuverability” and the dad was good at English because of practicing.

Jack, I think you are confusing two questions.
One question was “what is flying” and the answer was “gain altitude in still air”
Another question was describing the snake’s flight, and the answer was “steep drop then gradual”.

fliers were defined if they could something “still in air”. i forgot the exact wording

Quick ACT English question.

In passage one, there was a kind of passive voice question…I am pretty sure either choice B or C was correct and they were something like.

Now a nurse, Pam(can’t remember the lady’s real name) returned to Oklahoma, etc

or

Pam returned to Oklahoma, now a nurse, etc.

The first one is in the active voice, and the second sentence was confusing since nurse was so far away from her name so I chose the top answer. Anybody else have an opinion?

hopter got it. “gain altitude in still air”. sorry
i also put steep drop then gradual fall

my bad! okay i got the gain altitude but i think i missed the other one

I chose the one that started with Now a nurse. i felt it was better than the other option you posted which i debated on

I think I chose the one starting with “Now a nurse” as well

Ok I am pretty sure that is right. It was a bit confusing since the “now a nurse” part did work as a non-essential clause when it was placed in the middle of the sentence with two commas. When the non-essential clause of “now a nurse” was removed the rest of the sentence did flow fine. However, the placement of nurse was confusing, so I would imagine that the answer choice that put it in the active voice and next to the person who was the nurse would have to be correct.

for the math section, there was a question with a rectangular tank (25 by 9) with 2 inches of water, and a cylinder with a diameter of 10. how high can the water fill the cylinder? was the answer 6 inches?

Also, did you guys expand on the “beauty and magic” statement as it may have made it sound like he wanted to learn about magic, instead of the beauty and magic of the world?

Pretty sure I got 6 inches for that question.

i didnt expand the beauty and magic because it made it sound too wordy i thought. im not sure though

Jack- i found the volume of the tank ( 25 * 9 * 2) to see how much water would fit and then found what the height would need to be of the cylinder to hold that. i believe i also got six.

user- i think i remember those two words but i dont fully remember the question

I put no change for the beauty and magic one

my proctor said it will take 5-8 weeks to get the results back. does it really take that long?

nah, they’ll be out on the 22nd if you didn’t test standby

when i took it in september everything came in at the minimum time they gave. exactly 16 days online and a little less than 5 weeks in the mail

wow that’s fast! i thought it would take long because of the essay

the essay wont come out on the 22 though. i think its about 2 weeks later. its all on the act website
