For the reading, in the passage with the languages and her father speaking arabic only when visitors come, for the question that said which is NOT evident from like the 3rd paragraph was it
A. Suprise
B. Awe
C. A hint of resentment
D. Consuming jelousy.

I put C after changing it from D with the reasoning that with all those descriptions of the language she was using that she was jelous she couldn’t make those sounds and what not. I could be wrong.

The 7:13 rectangle problem was difficult, and also one that I read and skipped to come back to, but never had enough time to answer. But, I do remember the question fairly well. It went something like this: “A rectangle has a perimeter of 360 units, and the ratio of the sides is 7:13. Find the area of the rectangle.”
I went ahead and tried to solve it, and found that you could use an equation to solve this problem.
2(7/13x) + 2(x) = 360; thus when you solve you get (14/13x) + (26/13x) = 360; thus (40/13x) = 360; thus x = 360(13/40); thus x = 117. 117 units is the length of the rectangle. Knowing the 117 you can then set up another equation of 2(117) + 2(x) = 360, with x representing the shorter side length; thus 226 + 2x = 360; thus 2x = 126; thus x = 63. So now you know your length is 117 and your width is 63, so the area is 7,371 sq. units. ;)

This took me a while to figure out, but I wish I could have tought of this DURING the test! Haha. I hope this clarifies for everyone wondering about the 7:13 ratio rectangle.

lol i had time to take the math section twice ; ) except for number 55 (the towers) which took me 5 min… but i agree with others that this test, relative to other practice tests, seemed much harder. It’s funny how ACT Math is harder than SAT Math

olleger - answer choice C was a hint of regret. I chose D for that one, because in the paragraph above where she describes the visitors coming, she expresses regret that she hadn’t learned arabic.

I know I know thats where my confusion began because in the actual paragraph that they told us to read, I didnt pick up on any hint of regret but I will accept being wrong lol. This is what happens when you second guess your answers = /

For whatever math problem asked about the median, did you have to put the numbers in increasing order and then find the middle number or just look at the order they gave you and pick it. it was about CD play time

olleger - that’s why I was debating between C and D as well. I ended up picking D because of the sentence before, and I thought the word “consuming” was a little too strong. I dunno though.

canderson11 - I put them in order and picked - I got C.

yeaaaaahhh Ill admit the answer I put was wrong. There goes the 36 = (.

Any really hard ones on english you guys remember? I dont remember having any big problem with the english, but then again the highest ive ever scored on that section is like a 33/34… Think curves will be nicer for this ACT since it seemed harder = D?

imagine a rectangle with lenghts/width 7 and 13. perimeter is =360 so you could just divide, find the proportions to multiply by and then find the area.

anyone know what this one was:
The passage about the native american doctor (Piccotte). It was the last question…

went something like if the author intended to write this about an influential women physician, will this accomplish it

I was torn between A) Yes, because this shows one example of a women-physician that is representative of ALL women/physicians and D) No, because it only shows one example. There was also an option in there that talked about more than one examples, which I suppose could be referred to her friend (Wagner or something). But the passage didn’t focus on her at all so i crossed it out…

I don’t remember surprised ever being one of the answer choices… Gah.

I don’t know what letter it was, but I said no because it only focused on her. I don’t remember what the other ‘no’ option was, does anybody remember it?

I still don’t recall anything about her being surprised, or I probably would have picked that one… I dunno. I could be making things up. That whole morning’s just one big blur.
