Toddler mom going back to college, how many classes per semester

Hi all,
so long story short I am a 29 year old toddler mom, I just point this out to those that know how busy it can get, but I manage. I work full time from a home office so that has been helpful in allowing me balance care for my child and work. I do plan on enrolling my child in a day care for at least part time so that gives me time to study and go to classes.

I have all of my general courses completed, and will be taking concentration courses now but I will still need a good year or two to complete my associates depending on how many classes I take per semester.

I decided to go back to school, I start this Fall and so far I choose two classes an introduction to human services which is a blended class (in campus lecture/online) and a college success online class. I’ve taken a few classes these past years but only online, and haven’t taken a class in campus since 2011, so I am excited but a little nervous even forgot some things as far as interacting/study/note taking.

Basically my question is, and I know this ultimately depends on myself and how much effort I put. Do you think I should take another class either in campus or online, I was thinking Intro to Sociology or Drug&Abuse course that’s required.

Or should I just start with those two first and then next semester take 3 classes… I suppose my worry is adding too much to the plate and then failing.

Don’t take additional classes now. Start strong. There will be adjustment period to navigate technology, adjust to commuting, etc.
Allow yourself a cushion of time in case of illness or child care breakdowns, home, car, health appointments.

I agree. Get it under control best you can. Then you can decide if three classes is doable

Thank you all! That’s exactly what my instincts were telling me, I’m going to put a lot of effort to these two classes for now get my studies back on track then take it further next time.

The nominal workload (including in class and out of class time) per credit is three hours per week per credit. So budget 12 hours for a 4 credit course.

Thank you ucabalumnus,
I never thought if it that way. And makes even more sense for me to stick to two 3 credit classes for now.
