I've been a resident in the U.S for 9 years. Though I don't speak English at home, I do believe my English is just as fluent as the others' in my high school.
Is it still required that I take the TOEFL exam or does it all differ from school to school?

No, I don't think you have to. You're excused after a certain number of years. I'm not sure though.

you're also excused if you get above a certain score on the verbal sat. this depends on each school, tho (for exemple for brown it is 600)

Thanks for the replies. For some schools, it isn't required after a certain number of years, but others like BC, it is really unclear. It simply says that if English is your second language, you should be taking the TOEFL. That was my main confusion.

I was wondering about this too...English wasn't my 1st language, but I've been livig here for 12 years, so obviously I'm fluent. my GC told me not to take it and not to worry about it.
