I'm a citizen of US but have spoken English for under 5 years. The MIT application says that it's required that I take the TOEFL.
I didn't sign up for TOEFL yet and I think it will get too complicated if i do. and it just costs too much.
Do I need to take the Toefl? or should i just lie that I'm a native speaker?

Even if you're not a native speaker (or don't consider yourself a native speaker), you have the option to take either the TOEFL or the SAT I.

For non-native English speakers:
You have two options: 1) take the tests required for native English speakers (see above), or 2) you may take the TOEFL and two SAT Subject Tests, one in math (level 1 or 2) and one in science (physics, chemistry, or biology e/m).

If you're happy with your SAT score, don't take the TOEFL. It's totally up to you.

Thank you. I didn't look at the website very carefully....
