I did my TOEFL exam recently, and i got a score of 93, but i planned to apply to UMICH and USC, and found out their score requirement is 100+!! I was quite sick that day, and i could've got a 105+ easily! I can't retake the TOEFL test as its conflicting with my SAT Subject test day(jan24). The next TOEFL date after that is Feb14, from which the scores will most probably not reach in time to UMICH or UCS. Will this hurt my chances of getting accepted to both colleges? My other test scores r not very good either =/

Should I retake in feb? and send scores in late? or just leave everything to fate?

I am afraid the answer is 'yes', especially because

You probably already know this, but here is what Michigan and the University of Southern California (my pardon if you meant South Carolina or Southern Connecticut) say about deadlines:

Michigan explicitly says that they need to receive all documents, including test scores, by February 1. If you take the TOEFL on Feb 14, your scores won't be available until March! USC suggests that applicants take the SAT by December because the January test scores might not make it in time. If January is almost to late, mid-February definitely is.

I think you have two choices. Either

or take a more proactive approach: contact the universities and ask if your TOEFL score would preclude you from gaining admission. Maybe the minimum requirement is not as strict as it seems, or maybe they can make other arrangements for you. (E.g. they might consider giving you a conditional offer of admission, dependent upon your next TOEFL results.) But I think you should definitely contact the universities before signing up for the Feb 14 test.

I don't know where you live, but did you consider taking the TOEFL in a different country? In my country there are still seats available for Jan 10. If that doesn't work, you could check if the colleges you are interested in accept the IELTS in lieu of the TOEFL. You might be able to take the IELTS on Jan 10 as well.

Ya i think i should do this, call them and ask, and if they tell me there are complications, then i'll try for another country! THANKS SO MUCH for ur advice b@r!um! I seriously hope they understand my situation!

yea i hope you get to retake it cuz to get into elite schools, it's best to have 100+. although it is true that TOEFL scores aren't that important so as long as your have 101 or something then you should be fine lol
