I have taken the toefl because it’s an international student requirement for MIT.
On MIT’s webpage it’s written that the minimum toefl score is 90 but I made an 89. (bad day huh?) Do you think if I should retake the test? I don’t want to take it because it takes major time and costs 185$ Would they mind a point?
I think you’ll have to retake the test. I don’t know if it’s possible, but if you can, get a waiver. That should free you from some (or all) of the expense.
While MIT doesn’t have a strict minimum for SAT scores, their page states that they do have a minimum for the TOEFL. I’d think that, being their only declared minimum, a score of even 89 would greatly affect your candidacy.
@isitan I would assume it’s a strict minimum. English proficiency is a must at MIT.
Agreed. Additionally, the acceptance rate LY for international applicants was 3.2% vs. 9.7% for domestic applicants. Do you really want them to have a reason to automatically reject you?
Just do it, it’s only 1 point.
