I am applying to the more prestigious universities, and some of them want a score of 100 (minimum).

The listening part messed my score up... I didn't really pay attention and started to daydream. For example, I thought about how much the people on the pictures (during the listening part) got paid for their participation...

Also, my scores have already been sent. If I retake the test and get a better result, would these replace my score of 99? If I on the other hand get a lower score, will this score replace my score of 99?

Colleges will take your best score. 99 is actually pretty good, too bad you didn’t get this one point! What’s your CR score on the SAT? I’d say if you got 650 or more, colleges don’t really care about your TOEFL score. Your speaking score is excellent and that also requires some good skills at listening. So I’d say it depends on your SAT!

Thanks for your answer. Yeah, I’m a bit upset over that one point.

I haven’t taken the SAT at this time, but I will this Saturday. However, I’ve taken two practice tests (working on my third one now) and there I’ve scored 2370 and 2290. Perhaps I should put the TOEFL on hold until I know my SAT scores?

^That would be sensible. If you get a good score on CR (650+) most schools will waive the TOEFL. But you might need it for your visa. So check the local US embassy in your country to make sure they don’t require it before making the decision.

hey !! I got 27 in reading section, but why I got only 4xx in CR.
How could you do 2000+ on SAT? CR is a lot harder than TOEFl .
Teach me please !!!

Yes, in the BB. I don’t believe that I’ll get 2370 on yesterday’s test though. I’ll just have to wait and see.

The best way to improve your CR is to work on practice tests in the Blue Book. I didn’t prepare for TOEFL in any way, but I did prepare for the SAT. Also, try to read some newspapers (New York Times for example). Remember; all the answers to the CR questions are in the passage(s).

I would suggest you either retake the TOEFL or else contact the universities you are applying to and ask about the TOEFL requirement. You do not want to land in the auto-reject pile because of your TOEFL score.

^ That’s a terrible idea. If you wait until you get your SAT scores before you contact colleges, you may not have an opportunity to retake the TOEFL at all if it becomes necessary. And not all colleges waive the TOEFL requirement for SAT scores anyway.

If I were you, I would email colleges now before that window of opportunity closes. I would want to know where I stand so that I can plan accordingly.
