I am an international high school student. Yesterday I took the TOEFL exam, required by the US universities to which I’m applying to. The score they require is 100 or higher. The thing is that I’m afraid I might have scored slightly lower than that. Will the admission offices throw my application away, or would they though read it thoroughly and give a decision based on other aspects too?
If your schools explicitly set a bottom line of TOEFL scores, you should meet their requirement. Otherwise colleges may think that you won’t be able to understand classes taught in English, let alone reviewing your materials and considering you. BUT, if schools only recommend a 100 or above, I guess it’s okay as long as your score isn’t too far away from their expected scores. Many colleges even waive your TOEFL scores if you have high ACT/SAT reading and/or writing scores. Check their websites and contact them for details
