is it okay if i take the TOEFL on 20 Dec, if the applications Deadline is on Jan 2? Otherwise I'd have to take it on Dec 14, but I'd have to drive longer. Do colleges accept the toefl score, if they receive it a few days after their deadline?

You will need to give that date on your application and ask for the scores to be sent directly. Typically it’s fine if the score arrives a little after Jan 2.

Thanks! I forgot to mention that Jan 2 is the deadline for applicants who want to be considered for scholarships. I wanna be considered, so do you think it will make a difference in this case?

And one more question, they write: “Positive results on the SAT (Critical Reading and Writing) or ACT (English/Writing and Reading) may be used to waive the TOEFL/IELTS requirement.”
Do you think I should only take the SAT, or would it be more secure to take the TOEFL?

Have you taken the SAT already?
If you scored 600 or 650 on the CR they may waive the TOEFL but if you don’t have a result already and are taking the Dec test, don’t take that risk and take both SAT and TOEFL.

No, I’m going to take the December test. University of Georgia would waive the TOEFL if I score 430 on the CR section, so I thought that the University of South Florida would handle this similiarly.

But do you think that it’s going to make a difference for scholarships consideration, if they receive my score late?

No, because they won’t receive it “late”. Your application needs to be in before jan 2, but the test scores (unless specified) can arrive soon afterwards as long as it’s directly. If you’re super worried, rush the direct score report…

Re: USF: you can’t assume they’ll do the same thing as UGA. Different university, different State even! You have to ask each university.

Okay, so I’ve asked my college advisor and he told me that I shouldn’t try doing this, and then I called USF and the admissions officer told me that ALL documents AND test scores should arrive by Jan 2 in order to be considered for scholarships. Thus I’lll take the TOEFL on 12/14.
This, as an information to others who want to apply.

Nevertheless, thank you MYOS1634. UGA would have accepted it to arrive late.

Would be nice, if somebody could reply asap:

USF said they would waive the TOEFL with a 460 on the CR and 440 on the Writing section. I think I can get this score, as I scored 490 on the CR and 530 on the Writing section in my first try with almost none studying in the SAT Online Practice Test.
Honestly, would you risk it? I even don’t think USF would want me, if I scored below their requirements for a TOEFL waiver. What do you think?
