Do you have to take the test so it arrives at the school BEFORE the deadline?

I know that it may differ between schools but which policy is generally used?

I'm applying to yale, harvard and princeton RD and will take the toefl in january. you can usually take it after the deadline but it's better to check the schools you're interested in.

Why would you want a perfect score? Score doesn't really matter to the school as long as you're above the requirement.

I was wondering the level of difficulty/ease of toefl for fluent speakers.

Luck plays a bit of a role i guess. I've heard of native speakers who didn't get a perfect score (blamed it on stupid, far-fetched questions) but in general the test is pretty easy.

And I'm planning to take it on dec20 but the website says that online registration is temporarily unavailable!

I don't know what it's like in your contry, but here (Germany) TOEFL appointments are usually booked out months in advance. I registered in January for May or something like that.

EDIT: Okay, looked it up, i registered in March for July. As far as i remember there were no earlier appointments available at that time.

Thanks Thomas.
I was not able to sign up for TOEFL anyway (because of their 'temporarily unavilable server') but I just decided not to take it. If colleges reject me just becuase I didnt take the toefl, oh well.. I'll take the fault :)
