Toefl??

Ok so, my first language is not English and I marked it so in my Penn application. Penn’s website is confusing, in one section it says I MUST take the TOEFL but another section says that I’m only “encouraged” to do so since I attend an American high school…

I don’t know if I’m screwd or nor. Did any non-native speaker get accepted without taking the TOEFL? Please leave a message if this is your case

I am a non native speaker and I didn't take toefl but I also take AP English so I don't know if that helps.
I think you don't need the toefl if you went to an american highschool unless you came here like two months ago and don't know how to communicate freely in english.

You don't have to take toefl if you attend school in the US, generally for at least two years, but it could help your application if you have a low reading and writing score.

^^ ditto to that. if you are confident with your scores, it's not necessary to take the test since it's quite expensive.

i took ap eng and got a 5, got 700+ on sat reading/writing, but still took the toefl just to be safe.
