I have visited numerous college sites and researched on their application systems.

Some colleges say that it is a requirement that all students whose native language is not English HAVE TO take the TOEFL..

while others say that it is only required of students whose instructional language for the past 5 YEARS has not been English or it is not the main language spoken at home..

I've only been speaking English for 7 years..so am I required to take TOEFL???

I'm also taking the SAT.

You should contact each of the schools that you are interested in, and find out what to do. Some may still want you to take the TOEFL. Some will waive it based on the number of years you have spent in English-language schools. Others will waive it based on a given ACT/SAT score.

I’ve been speaking English all my life but I’m Korean. I took the TOEFL just to be safe. If your English is decent, TOEFL shouldn’t be too hard. Don’t underestimate it though; I actually thought it was harder in some sections than the SAT reading section. :P

My S is in the same situation. He has been speking English and enrolled in schools teaching in English for 7 years. Most of colleges do not require TOEFL if your SAT CR is above 650 but some of them recommend . You should look “international applicants” pages of college admission sites for detail although you and my S are not international applicants. Or are you? Some of them indicate cut-off score of TOEFL. They are mostly 100.
Only exception is Michigan as long as I searched. They say they will determine whether they would waive TOEFL after application is submitted.
