Tokyo University Admissions

Hi, i was just looking at japanese schools and the procedures for getting in? i was hoping someone from Japan or someone who is knowledge about admissions could help explain the process.

How hard are the admissions?

I've heard that it includes an entrance exam? How does that work(are there stages)? If you pass do you automatically get to attend the school? Are applications such as recs, essays, etc deemed necessary in US colleges essential for japan or is it just the entrance examination?

What sections does the entrance exam consist of?

I saw these questions for the math section?

http://www.maa.org/juee/ (page 15-16)
is this the type of difficulty to be found on the test? Science Examination looks crazy impossible. How many would one need to get right?

and any other thing you know and would like to add would be greatly appreciated!

Hey I
m japanese so I can help you but I dont exactly know which kind of schools are you looking at. It depends on if you
re looking at public or private schools in the Tokyo area and what you plan to major in (we dont have a liberal arts education).

Competition for entrance into top unis in Japan is tough, but seeing as they want more foreigners I think with decent grades/essays/test scores you definately have a chance.

im looking at tokyo university specifically in any major. And the process for japanese students. Not foreign students.
