Hey I guess I'm the typical high schooler and always changing my mind. I wrote in my application that I wanted to major in neuroscience and possibly a major/minor in philosophy. I told my interviewer not a word about neuroscience but economics (I did mention philosophy). Is it bad then that I didn't mention a word about neuroscience to the interviewer? Would it make a big difference?

I don’t think it makes a difference, since the interviewers don’t see your application.

^But, if the admissions office sees the interviewer write down economics, and sees neuroscience on the application, it could raise some flags, especially since economics and neuroscience are unrelated.

raise flags ? – naw – I wouldn’t sweat it.

okay yeah, it’s just that in the “interested fields” I wrote a lot about neuroscience in the application…but then I changed my mind a few weeks after i submitted it in and want to pursue economics…which I told my interviewer

but didn’t mention that I switched or anything about neuroscience, so it’ll look weird. Idk

I have no idea whether you will or won’t eventually be admitted to Columbia, but I am absolutely sure that if (God forbid) you are not ultimately admitted, this won’t be the reason.

much appreciated for the input guys
