Good luck tomorrow everybody, I have shit stats, 3.6 UC gpa, 1860 sat, 4.02W GPA
Last hope at a 4 year besides my one accepted... CPP lol. Probably will go to CC instead. expecting a fatty rejection like I got from davis. lulz, anyone in similar boat that doesn't have elitist 4.8 gpa? <3

Stats from last fall:

http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/campuses/files/freshman-profiles-ca/freshman-profile-ca-ucsb.pdf

Did you give yourself a ‘bump’ for your APs in that UC gpa you calculated by the way? I looked at your other thread and wondered why there was such a difference between your UC gpa and your weighted gpa.

In any event, good luck!

I was accepted at the Chancellor’s Reception for fall quarter 2014. I have 3.7 UC GPA, 1800 SAT(although my Superscore is exactly as yours) and 4.01 W GPA. Our stats are almost exactly the same so I dont understand how you weren’t invited to the reception as well?!

@pumpkinpies what was your major

Haha I’m in the same boat kinda

UC weighted GPA: 3.68
SAT: 1900
ACT: 27
4 years of baseball 4 years of football
african american
major: pre-biology
basically that’s my app lmao

does anyone have any idea around what time the decisions will be released?

@collegevetting yeah, on my transcript it gives the CSU/UC GPA as so many attend and our class size is roughly 800. I had 4.2/4.0 fresh year, those are included, and Jr/Soph years I had two 4.0’s and two 3.8’s, weighted obviously and through soph/jr year i had in total 7 AP/H classes. and they only count 8 semesters of credit, I.e. 4 classes, as you know. Schools are so different from area to area, like I took Calc AB as a jr, struggled, got a C, but I got a 5 on the exam. Lots of factors like that.

@pumpkinpies woah, that boosts my confidence a little. yeah +1 question of what’s your major.

p.s. my major is pre-econ. I’m pretty sure that’s one of the more competitive majors there. :(

My major is psychology.

@eddie29896 from a lot of places, i’ve heard 3 pm and that is pacific time

@oldschoolboy hell yeah man, good to hear, you’re better off than I am, haha 27 ACT , yeeeeahh that’s mine too… where else did you apply man?

I hope their server doesn’t get jammed like San Diego’s did. It was a nightmare at the SD forum lol

@Sustenance I’ve got rejected from SLO and Chapman University so far. I’m waiting on UCLA and UCSB, but basically if I don’t get in tomorrow at SB i’m looking at community college /;
wbu?
I really hope I get into sb man lol

Pre econ is competitive in that before you can declare ACTUAL major you have to get a certain gpa in specified econ classes. I don’t think getting into the ‘pre’ econ itself is that competitive, although they always want a mix, and not all one or another major.

same man I got rejected from SLO, but also UCD, and UCSD (obv) yeah I applied UCLA too cause It was as if a dream was a click (and $70) away. yeah if i get rejected UCSB i can choose cal poly pomona (ew) or CC, it seems so bad that I basically wasted my high school time trying with all the AP/H classes for CC. and not to mention I did my art over the summer haha. (gg 120 hours of my Jr yr summer) didn’t apply chapman (can’t afford privates haha)
SB is my last hope

@collegevetting I’m hoping that exact fact deterred applicants from applying for pre-econ. My philosophy is that I’ll just cross that bridge when I come to it, I just need to get in, i need the chance. I’ve read about the excruciating curve. Though, It is my favorite area of study and I love finance, money, markets, wall st, etc. From your vet experience do you think UCD is more selective than SB?

@Sustenance hahaha let me know if you get in tomorrow. And I really don’t want to go to community college, I hate the idea of it. Dude don’t go to pomona, go to CC

From my vet experience? On the one hand their admits were a hair higher than UCSBs last year, but I don’t know whether their freshmen who actually enrolled were. More apply to UCSB, but not a ton more. They are pretty close, actually, but specific majors vary.

Here’s the thing. UCSB is different in one important thing. They give only half of the weight on academics and half on other factors. They want the total man applicant. The others have what the UCs call a ‘holistic’ review, UCSB still has what they call a ‘comprehensive’ review. It doesn’t sound different, but the results slightly are, from what I have seen. UCSB gives hard credit to other factors besides stats, as best I can tell.

Dude for sure, same with you. Yeah man I know that CC and transferring is more logical and economically sound, as you basically just do your GE for like 1/30th the cost. But living at home and no college experience with like no friends is gonna be rough on my sanity haha. @oldschoolboy

@collegevetting haha your name, i assumed you were a college veteran, no? Alright, so basically the same chance. what do you think, high match for me?

@collegevetting
read your edit. wow okay thanks, appreciate your time!
