Tomorrow?

I saw on collegeboard that they start releasing acceptances tomorrow, is that true?

You don’t think College Board would lie…do you?

No, but just if it was accurate or not. Purdue isn’t even on the calendar, and it had USNA at a really early date (august I believe)

A lot of us hope it is true though haha

I think they got the dates mixed up, Ive been to many PSU presentations of the year and they make it very clear they start sending out acceptances NOV 30, and the DEADLINE is NOV 1.

Then again… I hope CB is right too… Ive been waiting for two months now!

From the PSU website:
"2. Keep in mind our priority dates.
In order to have the greatest chance at your first choice of campus and major, be sure to have a complete application (including all of the material listed in Steps 3 & 4) by the appropriate date:

First-year students:
November 30 for fall and summer admission
November 1 for spring admission"

My S wants to apply to Schreyer which has a priority deadline of Nov 30. You must first get into “regular” Penn State. The additional application for Schreyer includes 3 essays and teacher recommendations. He applied to PSU in early Oct. My question involves the timing. Do you do all the work to apply to Schreyer and submit it without even knowing if you got into PSU? We’re out of state and it’s tougher to get in. Any thoughts?

If you are not sure whether your son can get into PSU then you shouldn’t apply to Schreyer.

huh? PSU has been releasing acceptances since the middle of October already; know at least 10 kids (just from our public NJ HS) that have already been admitted.

aglages’ comment sounds harsh but is true. “Schreyer Scholars represent the top 5% of students at Penn State, and therefore should also be at the top of their respective high school class.” [How to Apply: Schreyer Honors College](<a href=“404 Error: Page Not Found - Schreyer Honors College (SHC) at Penn State University”>404 Error: Page Not Found - Schreyer Honors College (SHC) at Penn State University) Have you looked at the “bubble chart”? http://admissions.psu.edu/info/counselors/bubble_chart.pdf

In-state and OOS applications are considered equally. It is not tougher to get in if you are OOS.

Those early acceptances were anomalies. Normally the first acceptances go out in November.

I’m pretty sure my son will get in as he has fantastic grades and SAT’s. But, honestly, nothing is ever certain. And the Schreyer application is quite time-consuming so I would have been happier with acceptance in-hand. Call me crazy.

mrdysart - you are not crazy - it isn’t over until you get the fat packet. These kids have so much on their plates right now that most don’thave “extra time” to complete apps and write essays that are not necessary…we too are anxious for the thumbs up.

Well I was accepted on October 16th…

I don’t think any one has posted an acceptance since the week following the “computer glitch”.
[Error leads to early admission - The Daily Collegian Online](http://www.collegian.psu.edu/archive/2010/10/11/error_leads_to_early_admission.aspx)

that’s actually not true my D was not part of the computer glitch and received her acceptance Oct 20

Actually, I know several students that have been accepted since that “glitch” week. And while I got my acceptance early, I was not part of that glitch group. Assuming that everyone that received an acceptance already was a part of the glitch is false.

Interesting, I have never heard of acceptances going out before November until this year. Congratulations!

I guess those of us who submitted our applications in September and early October will hear back this week, hopefully.

Also, those who have more average grades (not particularly good OR bad) wont hear back till later, theyll accept all the perfect students and deny all those theyre going to deny first, THEN keep chopping off the extremes to get to the mashup of the rest of us. So it might take longer for me, who has very average scores, even though I applied Sept 1.

^^^

@sbrtth What are your stats? And @EastCoaster00 did you check to consider starting in the summer?
