Tonight is the last day for decisions!

No its not! Its definately not a lose-lose situation. Im kinda sad i said bye to berk because the education is dope. But! 1) its not like ucla is unknown 2) ucla's social life is better 3) i can go home whenever i want 4) i am not taking drastic measures to be independent; im making it a comfortable transition and 5) its not over! I can go to cal for grad school, if its really where i am meant to go.

Mojo, I think #5 has great strength.

Personally, #2 is some what "eh". Simply because I hear the crowd at Berkeley and UCLA are VERY different and not necessarily in a good way to some people.

3+#4 I teach movies to kids as an enrichment program. One of the parents of the kids is a Cal alumni. I asked her about her experiences and one thing she said she could change was move further away from the parents. She had a great relationship but it just felt like they were too close (they were living in the same city when she was attending Cal but at different apartments). She said somehow she didn't feel free, independent, and it was a bit suffocating.

This is just one person's experience though, of course I understand we are all different. So, again, follow your gut.

If you want to be independent -- go for it. If you like what mojo is talking about, UCLA is for you, plus you get your sweetie!

Again I have to point to Mojo's #5. That was one of the options I was looking at too when deciding between UCLA and Berkeley. If it really was "meant" to be, you definitely would end up at Cal. Personally, I'd love to go to England for my grad school ^_^

Good luck!!!

I SIRed both ucla and berkeley...
My preference just changes everyday....
I definitely need more time~

lol, my UCI decision is still pending

I just send my sir to berkeley. I don't feel too good about it tho, however I know that I need to get out of my comfort zone and challenge myself. It's funny that I just moved down to LA from norcal a couple years ago when my gf transferred to a school here. Now, I gotta move back to norcal again. After all, it's still only 400miles away from my gf. I guess my car can still handle 1000 miles a week like the good old days. My gut was telling me that I belong to Berkeley and I followed it accordingly with rogue's advice... =)

eracer, if you have any questions about the area, feel free to ask for advice/info/etc on berkeley, bay area in general.

Eracer I completely agree with. I was like eh the next day after I SIR cal but I knew I needed to get out of my comfort zone and try to stand of my own. I am leaving my gf, friends, and family in hopes of coming back as something new. I know LA would have been cool but I also know I wouldn't grow as much as a person. My teacher described college the best, "If you went into college and came out the same person, you didn't get a good education."

I SIRed to both, too! My major is Comm Studies at UCLA and Mass Comm at Berkeley.

I just posted a thread about this...I'm having so much trouble deciding where to go. I feel that my experiences will be so different at the two schools. I'm from Nor Cal, and this area is getting a little too familiar and tiring to me...So Cal seems really fresh and exciting to me.

But, I can't let go of Berkeley's name. Even IF UCLA has the better Comm program. I'm so fickle-minded! Argh.

i'm going to be living in la. that's settled.

i'm going to miss the suburbs out here. lake skinner and the wineries in temecula left such an indelible memory and imagery upon me... but no matter...i always dreamt of living like a homeless on a tiny flat, half starving and making money off of paintings and collecting african masks and drums....this is the dream baby!!! imagine picasso in paris...

but sometimes i want just forget school and just move into a jungle like gauguin, completely cut off from civlization...

wait a minute, howd you guys sir to both schools let alone after the deadline, my friend has to go to UCI now instead of ucla because of family problems and he has to file for appeal.

I've already SIRed to UCSD, but it seems if i wanted to, i could still SIR to sb and irvine too...even after the deadline

MaryTwee i think you should go to ucla because that's what u really like!

I am now deciding between cal econ, ucla bizecon and usc marshall...I have been living in orange county for 5 years but i haven't got tired for socal. In my mind I THINK ucla and usc fit me more. But then i will probably be more mature, independent and experience more if i go to berkeley, because it is far away from home. Help me...

I am not considering the programs themselves that much. ucla and cal will be very similar because i am gonna take business and accounting courses at cal anyway to make it like a bizecon degree. It's just less econ and more business for usc.
