Tony Award bets for tonight?

Those of you who have seen shows, any bets about who will win tonight?

Evan Hanson & Ben Platt!
Haven’t seen Oslo, but think that will win Best Play.

I agree about what I have heard about Dear Evan Hansen. Sadly, it looks like Bette Midler will not sing. That is a shame. There will be more nail biting this year than last. Hamilton last year was such an obvious winner across the board

Ben Platt was truly amazing. Really rooting for him and the show!!

Agree about Platt. What a great message in his speech. Any idea why Bette didn’t sing? I like David Hyde Pierce but that number fell flat. She would have created more excitement, imho

It was reported that Bette wouldn’t sing because they couldn’t stage the opening number at Radio City Music Hall? I would like to have seen her perform something! Ben Platt was delightful and clearly a crowd favorite.

I found it very disappointing that Hello Dolly took such an unyielding position. If Natasha,Pierre… could stage such an ambitious number the producers of Hello Dolly could certainly have figured something out. It was a big loss for them as even with the show and Bette and Gavin’s big win, they missed a huge promotional opportunity and came off looking petty and uncooperative.

Yes, that is a shame. But on an up note, Gavin sure gave a nice shout out to University of Michigan musical theatre!

^^It’s nice when an actor acknowledges their alma mater, even if they did graduate 20 years ago. I’m pretty sure that Gavin always includes U of Michigan in his playbill bio, too, unlike most actors when they reach that age.

There was also a shout out for Carnegie Mellon which was nice too

Gavin Creel is still very much connected to U of M. He was the one who thought of, and helped put together, the Maize & Blue on Broadway tribute when Brent Wagner retired. http://www.mmtaef.com/events/

I wish they really would do a revival of Forum with Josh Gad. Apparently there were rumors about it a couple of years ago; maybe someday.

Having seen Natasha, Pierre, I was disappointed to see that it did not win more awards. A truly ambitious, innovative production with star performances all around.
