Too Big a Reach?

I know Yale is a big reach for me, but it's my first choice! I applied to plenty of other great schools though. Do you think I have a chance?

Here are my stats....

Weighted GPA - 4.2
Unweighted GPA - 3.9
Best SAT (New) - 1920
Best ACT - 34
AP Bio Score - 4
AP Language - 5
AP Psychology - 5

CLUBS/ECs
Student Government Officer for one year
Communications Club member for two years
Supporting Role in spring production
6 years of Guitar
1 year of Piano
Newspaper Editor for two years
Italian Honors Society

FIRST IN FAMILY TO GO TO COLLEGE
Caucasion

no, i dont think it's too much of a reach, but i do think it's bizarre how much lower your SAT score is from the rest of your numbers.

that said, yale is going to be a reach because none of the ECs stand out, except for maybe the newspaper editor? but a lot of other top applicants are editors too...

I do think Yale is a long shot. Where else have you applied?

For some reason I couldn't score so high on the SATs but I did a lot better on the ACTs. I guess I'm not the best test-taker; the ACT was easy.

I also applied to Tufts, Boston College, American (safety), Northeastern (safety), NYU, UChicago, Northwestern, Emory, Kenyon & UNC - Chapel Hill.

Your stats are fair. Not gasp-shoe-in but not horrible either (I got a worse SAT score....le sigh. Though I'm not a student there).

I think it will come down to your essays, and recommendations. Its all about selling yoursel.

Well, you're being realistic.

If not Yale, UChi, NW, NYU and UNC-CH are all great schools, and you'll definitely get in at least one of those, maybe more.
