Too Bored to Care?

So, I've noticed lately, my normal courses that aren't at a higher pace I get lower grades in. I was thinking about it and then I noticed that the advanced classes that don't seem advnaced to me I also have lower grades in. I've figured out that I often times (sometimes subconciously) don't do the work that bores me. I'm sick of the mundane. Is anyone else in the same situation?

Sometimes, like in Latin, I don’t bother doing the hw anymore. The good thing is he doesn’t even check and I just translate off hand. I’m thinking of going from Latin 2 to Latin 4, taking Latin 3 over the summer.

^Uhg. Latin is my hardest subject. I take it because we have an amazing teacher. Although I do love the language.

Oh, and don’t get me wrong, I eventually do the work, it’s just hard to concentrate due to the basic materials.

Currently my course load is easier than it has been the past few years and I feel bored out of my mind! The classes are too tedious and are filled w/ more incompetent people! I still do all my work, but I’m not nearly as engaged in these classes b/c of that.

I used to be in that situation when I was still in high school and it led me to strong beliefs in the restructuring of the school system and the methods employed by teachers. Hang in there, though; when you go to college you will be able to take all the challenging courses you want in the areas that interest you.

Oh, it’s the reverse for me. Latin’s my easiest, because my teacher is very easy going, and we don’t have any projects, so it’s just quizzes and tests and class participation. And I also eventually do the work, and I can see where you’re coming from. It’s so boring you feel like that you can’t even do it. It would be like doing 3x4, 5x2, etc for like 5 pages.

Funny, for the first time in like 2 weeks, I’m actually doing Latin at home

^Do ittttttt - I skipped Latin II without doing a class over the summer or anything, and my classes are ridiculousssly hard. But, oh Latin II, you are boring. So I tested out.

I’m in Latin II.

My teacher is a killer though with work.
So much homework.

And if it’s late the best you can get is a 50%.

i’m actually in hard courses and don’t care… just waiting till end of semester

Yea, my teacher is so much of a pushover, but so nice, hw is given full credit like 2 days after

The only classes I really have interest in are (honors) math and chemistry, which is so weird, because I’m like the ultimate literature nerd. When I say interest…I actually look forward to going to those classes everyday and doing the homework, because I learn something new. My English class is supposedly honors/pre-AP, but it completely bores me. I’ve had lively gifted honors English discussions all through middle school and ninth grade, but I’m at a new school in a totally weird random state, and it sucks.

I love Spanish, but my class is so mundane. And we go so slow. Definitely skipping Spanish II and going straight to Spanish III next year. I also expected my pre-newspaper class to be like one of those cool journalism classes with awesome teachers you see in movies and stuff (lawl, don’t ask) but it’s far from it. Mostly just busywork and writing articles that don’t even get to be in the paper.

AP World is by far my hardest class (ever), and it makes me want to scream, it’s so boring (for me), so I guess it’s kind of the opposite for me.

aww. i HATE ridiculous classes.
man…

Carthago delenda est!
Gotta love Latin, I leave my binder in the class because I’ve never done the translation assignments or homework outside of class. I just site read, and then memorize the current five chapters in English for the tests. I’m sorry but having a photographic memory makes school a joke, I studied for APUSH tests on the 3 minute walk to the class (got an A)
never tried, but I succeed cause I’m optimistically and confidently careless

I definetly do better in tougher classes. In challenging courses, grades are based more on your ability in the subject rather than how well you colored within the lines on your poster project. Plus, if your tough courses are populated by idiots, epic curves=hi grade lol

i do better in harder classes, especially cos hw barely counts. im a good test taker and pay attention in class, i just have a terrible work ethic when it comes to mindless homework assignments.

^same. Its hard to do homework as a senior who gets 4hrs of sleep daily.

I’m so glad others feel like this.

I hate it at school because all of the kids in my class think they’re so smart because they have a higher grade, when in reality I just get sick of the work and say screw it. (Not meaning that I have bad grades.)

yea. same here!

im like…hahaha…u have an A in this class…lol…great way to show that you’ve wasted your time…

My last English assignment we had to write a narrative so I wrote a narrative of me writing the narrative on how much I hate the assignment.

I do great in my easier classes, but its more like I feel I didn’t earn my grade. Or at least did my best, but then I still get the grades. You don’t need to do your best to get over an A. My current AP US history class is a complete joke, and lately I don’t feel the need to do work. It’s so boring, that I don’t feel the motivation to do it. Though it could be easy. Last year, AP World History was challenging and so much work but I didn’t mind. I did great and actually didn’t mind projects. Unlike more people who said “it’s hard, stupid teacher… why does she do this to us.”
The only class that really taught me something, it was so interesting and I kept wanting each class to come. Even now I wish I had her teach my current AP class -.-;
