Too cliche of a topic?

Okay, so I know that writing about your immigrant parent going through hard times it way overused, but I have a specific moment that I wanted to talk about that really changed my view...would that be okay and not too cliche? or should I scrap this idea and restart?

Oh and by the way my 1st choice is Emory, if it makes any difference?

is there any other example of your personal experiences and not living through your parent’s?

As long as you have a personal memory and connection with this struggle you should be fine. Your essay won’t be cliche unless you write it in a cliche sort of way.
