Hey guys, I'm just looking for some feedback from people who might be attending the University of Michigan right now. I'm from Connecticut and I'm looking at schools like University of North Carolina, University of Virginia, University of Connecticut and UMich. I am intent on studying political science and of the schools im looking at Michigan has by far the best department. Also, it has the social scene I'm looking for. My only true setback is that I think it will be too cold, how are the winters there?? I'm from Connecticut so I am used to bad winters but I'm kind of ready to get away from them. Im pretty sure I can get in (4.15 gpa 2200 sats good ecs) but is it worth the weather?? thanks for the advice

Michigan State has a far better political science program than Michigan.

ive heard on the contrary

It really depends on you. UNC and UVA are great schools too. I think there's quite a difference in the atmosphere at these three schools, however. With the warm weather, I think you also get a somewhat more conservative student body. Have you visited all four schools?

DSMO, Michigan's Political Science is better than MSU's. Michigan is generally ranked between #1 and #3. MSU is generally out of the top 10. Both are good in Political Science, but Michigan has the edge.

UNChopeful, only you can answer the question about the weather. Michigan is cold...a little colder than Connecticut. And do not let the rankings determine where you go.

By the way, if you love warm weather and wish to major in Political Science, check out Cal, Duke and Stanford, but definitely apply to Michigan. Michigan's Poli-Sci program is special.

I have never been to Connecticut in the winter, but Umich is cold. UNC, UVa, Duke, or Cal would be much better in terms of weather. Any of these 4 schools are equally good for Political Science. Stanford would, in my opinion be the best choice, but it is very hard to get in (you should try though).

That's news to me then. The MSU people have been lying to me! I should've known better.

Sweet lord...MSU's polysci program better than Umich. >:-O
