<p>Unless the OP is a Florida resident he/she will be held to higher OOS standards and is unlikely to gain admission with a 2.9/4.0 at FSU. Even as a Florida resident admission is not at all certain with that GPA, since the average enrolled GPA for FSU’s FTIC is 3.72/4.0 per the latest available CDS.</p>
<p>A student presenting ~2.9/4.0 GPA represents 1.8% of the enrolled freshmen at FSU per the CDS for Fall 2008. </p>
<p>Florida State weighs GPA and course rigor more heavily than SAT or ACT scores, so even a very high SAT/ACT score would only be of limited help to a student carrying a 2.9/4.0 GPA.</p>
<p>What the OP could do, if their heart were set on Florida State, would be apply for Summer session when the standards are slightly relaxed. If that does not work then attending TCC and transferring to FSU is another option.</p>
