My friend is a very talented soccer player and is being recruited by Georgetown. His SAT score is approximately 1150/1600 and he is ranked about 35 of 300. The Georgetown coach has told him that he thinks he will have no problem being admitted with his help and even told him that he does not need to submit any subject tests (GT requires three).

Does this seem reasonable or will the coach and the admissions committee clash on this?

I think they will clash. Being a recruited athlete isn’t so much of an advantage as that. He should still apply (with the 3 subject tests), but don’t count on it.

If the coach has had admissions do a pre-read, and the student is an outstanding athlete at the top of the coach’s list, he may well be accepted without all the usual requirements.

However, it is also possible the athlete is exaggerating the coach’s interest and promises.
