Too late for ACTs?

Hi. I'm a senior who will be applying for colleges whose deadlines end in November/December/January.

I have three options I could take:

Don't take ACTs.
Pay late-fee with writing and go somewhere far, far away (which I don't want).
Take ACTs in December and submit the scores for colleges whose deadlines are in January.

=[

Would it be worth it at all to take the ACTs at this point?

Check colleges you are applying to to see last test date accepted. Most that have app deadlines end of Nov through Jan accept December tests (their test date dateline is different from the deadline for submitting the application)

If you’re looking for scholarship $$, some won’t take the November ACT score for figuring $$ awards…so try to take the October test.

BTW…if the test center will be “far away”…then stay at a “cheap” (but safe) motel the night before. Make sure everything is paid, etc, so you can just quickly leave in the morning w/o doing a formal “check out.”

Okay.

Thanks for the input.

I’m just worried about financial costs; most of the schools I’m aiming for require the writing portion of the ACT. If I wanted to take the ACT with writing, and pay an additional late fee and a motel, would it all be worth it to take it in October?

Pay the late fee for the October test, sleep at home (you’ll sleep better), get up early and drive to test site(To minimize pretest stress-arrive at least 1 hour early, Mapquest AND google map the site, usually one or the other is wrong). It is worth the possibility of getting $$$ for college.

I would be concerned that the long morning drive would be exhausting to then tackle a big test. If he arrives the evening before, avoids caffeine in the afternoon/evening, finds the test site, stays at a hotel (and if possible, take a couple of motrins before sleeping so he’ll be relaxed), he’ll arrive more rested the next morning for the test.

The extra cost will be “worth it” if you score well enough to get merit $$ for the next 4 years!!!

Honestly, I don’t think I’ll be getting a high score. Hopefully a 30 or 31. I’ve taken an ACT prep test and scored a 26 and 28.
