I just started writing the Michigan essays . . . I guess I was too caught up with other schools and I knew Mich's deadline was kind of in the distance
I still want to apply though, I live in Ontario, Canada (40 min away from Umich actually) and I've visited, gone to info sessions, and it's a great school, and plus, I love michigan football

Asian male
1470SAT
4.0 UMich GPA
not a lot of ECs, but 2 that I dedicate my time to
Piano (lots of regional awards, provincial awards too)
Football (National Champions 2001, 2002, 2003) and Provincial Finalists this year (I start WR)

I still want to apply, but is it too late?

It is not too late, and your chances of getting in are still excellent given your GPA and scores. Like we always stress, applying early benefits primarily the borderline cases. Students with 1500 SAT scores and 4.0 GPAs are not borderline. And since you are no American, you won't be getting any aid anyway, so that's another benefit of applying early that does not apply to you anyway.

However, the third benefit of applying early that applies to you is the response time. When you apply in September, you usually get an answer withn 6-8 weeks...especially with your credentials. When you apply in January, in can take twice as long. So instead of having an acceptance into one of the top universities in North America in October, you most likely won't get that acceptance until March.

And the fourth and final advantage of applying early is one that people often overlook. If you decide that Michigan is for you and you pay your deposit early, you get to register for classes early (which pretty much means you will get into whatever classes you want) and to get better odds and ending up in a dorm of your choice.

No, it's not too late. It can take international students longer to get everything in, so their apps tend to be processed later (for reasons I cannot fathom, not as many internationals take advantage of the web app). You're still all right, time-wise.

You are not too late if you submit before Feb 1. I knew three students who submitted a day or so before the deadline last year. One got admitted before end of February; one got in last week of March; and the other one would have been notified sooner had TOEFL not messed up his report but he still got notified around first week of April. None of them were borderline cases.
