I'm a sophomore in college, and by the end of summer I will have 59 credits. I decided I would like to be premed, and I registered for precalc and chemistry in the fall. My gpa is really low currently 2.3 (I transferred from community college with 29 credits but my first semester at my 4 year school I failed a class and got a c in the other). I need to bring my gpa to a 3.7 and i am roughly 60 credits from graduating, so is there still enough time to go premed? Also should I declare an easy minor to boost my gpa? All advice is welcomed!

GPA wise it is probably too late, but I am not super knowledgable on the topic. Perhaps post this in the pre-med thread…

As a physician, it’s likely too late to improve your GPA to a level where you will be considered a serious candidate for any medical school.

There is always the post bac option. It may take a while longer but the average age for med student is about 24 now anyways. If it is truly what you want to do pursue it and take the extra time to raise your gpa.

If you can raise your GPA to a 3.2, and do well on the GRE, you can always try your hand at a MS, preferably non-thesis.

Too late brah

In my opinion, you’re not “medical school” material, even if you do get into medical school, the hardest part is still there, staying in. However, if you think it is your fate to go into the medical field, spend one or a second year applying and retaking your classes. But again, I doubt that any medical schools will accept you, there is an enormous pool of applicants with
competitive GPA and MCAT scores.

If your goal is to be a physician, then there is ALWAYS a chance.

Will you get in during the traditional time frame? Probably not. You will likely need to prove yourself at a higher level, like a strong science Masters program or a very rigorous postbac.

Keep pushing, if that is really want you want.

Good luck!
