I am an EA applicant and was wondering if it is too late to send in a resume for inclusion with my application. Thanks.

well the whole application was due Nov. 5.

no, send it in. I worked on a high school resume with my friend and we sent it in late. It can't hurt, trust me on this.

Thanks, vecter. I shall send one in ASAP.

I thought resumes were discouraged. Is it a good idea to send a resume or not? I would like to be able to since there's not very much space on the application for me to give a full picture of myself, but I always thought it was a bad idea.

Resumes are discouraged at most schools. There's a reason they only give you 6 or 7 spaces on the application. They don't care about all the little clubs and leadership activities you do, they just want to know what's MOST important to you.

pebbles, I really don't think it can hurt, esp. if you have a good resume. Presentation matters...

Go here and read the Thursday, Oct. 28 entry about resumes: http://blogs.mit.edu/madmatt/

In that blog, it seems that resumes do not weigh much.

That's what I think too. Send it if you must, but don't pin your hopes on it.

Also, since MIT keeps reducing the number of lines on which to list awards and activities it seems to me that a resume is unnecessary. As long as you've included your main EC's, and probably included them in an essay somewhere, I wouldn't worry about sending it.

Having said that, Matt says in his blog you can send a resume and can update your application with new information.
