I should really stop reading emails from UChicago, because for the past week, they've given me this overwhelming urge to apply. It's not that I haven't considered the school before, but the slim chance at admission and the high sticker price (plus an allegedly bad reputation for financial aid) dissuaded me... until now. I really like the intellectual but offbeat impression I get from the school, and I think I'd really enjoy attending.

I know that, officially, the application deadline isn't until January 3rd. But considering I haven't asked my teachers for rec letters for Chicago, I haven't sent my transcript or scores, and I haven't started the supplement - is it even feasible to try and apply? Is a rushed application worth it?

I already have 8 schools on my list, which is really more than enough. There are 1-2 I would love attending and about 3-4 I'd be happy to attend. I can't decide if this is just another flight of fancy for me.

Ask this question to yourself: Would you regret NOT applying? If the answer is “yes”, I would highly recommend you apply. They give great financial aid for anyone who makes under 60,000 due to the Odyssey scholarships. It’s not too late to apply.

Give it your best shot.

What about for people in the 75k range, but who has a sibling in college as well? Is the Odyssey Scholarship only for people with gross income of 60k or less? Or could eligible applicants also get a piece of that scholarship??

Odyssey is for ppl below 75k, and its max at 5.5k replacement for loan…, thats basically the max u can get out of it.

Thank you for your input! I’m afraid there’s a good chance I’ll regret not applying, but I’ve realized it actually is not physically possible to do so in time. I won’t be able to even send a transcript until January 4th at the earliest, and that wouldn’t even make the deadline postmarked. Alas! Good luck to every one else applying.

^School forms need not be postmarked by the deadline.
