Too late to change application major?

Mine went in as a Management major but now is considering switching it to undeclared to better her chance admissions? Thoughts? She did EA…also don’t want to slow that as well.

I got into every school I applied to with a 2.8 GPA and applying for business management. Business is a very popular major but that also means that the schools will likely have the room to accommodate. I don’t think switching to undeclared would really change the chances of being accepted, though I could be wrong. I’m not in any admissions department. I’m currently considering changing my major and it’s a very easy process at most schools, so if that’s a worry it won’t really be a big deal down the road. Make sure to apply to multiple schools though, no matter what.

It is possible that Moore may impose admission limits this year with covid and many in-state students deciding to stay in SC. We don’t know her stats, but it is possible she could get shut out of the school of business. Just something to keep in mind. Good luck!

That’s what she’s afraid of. Her stats
3.85 unweighted
4.69 weighted
Test optional
NHS, French NHS, captain of her sports team, officer in a few clubs, held a job for 3 years, lots of volunteer stuff

She wants to better her chances of getting in. She’s gotten into the business school at temple, Alabama, West Virginia and a few others. Didn’t get into marketing/international business at Udel, but they just asked her to choose another major
I think she’s worried if she changes it now it will delay the application since decisions aren’t coming out soon.

Obviously, it’s just my opinion, but her stats look good. Did she have an ACT/SAT? I personally wouldn’t risk switching if she wants Moore. I read your UDEL post; I have a feeling that may happen at several schools this year. Not for her specifically, just that they may cap admissions for “semi-competitive” majors that may have had more leeway last year.

Maybe some UofSC parents will weigh in?

She went in test optional. UofSC is her top choice so she wants the best chances to get in and she isn’t truly set on a major. She thinks business but isn’t truly decided.

Ahh I see; that’s how I wound up in international business. Hopefully some experienced UofSC parents will weigh in with suggestions. She’s a strong candidate overall for the school, so fingers crossed it works out for her. Good luck!

Thank you so much for your help! It’s gonna be a long stressful week waiting!

I know; it’s a stressful time. Try to stay busy and focus on something else.

Thank you! And now she just told me she joined some online group of high school seniors interested in UofSC and is now even more invested lol

She contacted admissions. She was told she could switch to business undecided because its in the same school so won’t delay her application decision which they said is coming mid December.
