Hey, i'm still waiting on UCI, but i just decided that i wanted to switch my preferred major that i put on my application, anthropology, with my alternate major, global cultures. will the fact that each major is at a different school, social science and humanities, changes my chances of acceptance? or is too late anyway to switch? or is it too to think im even going to get in?

It's too late to switch, from some talk I heard on the board, you can apply for an inter-department transfer once you're accepted. What are your stats?

oorah is sooo wrong. i waited until i was accepted from UCSC and UCSB and then changed my major from philosophy to psychology. take note that psychology is an impacted major.

Did you tell them you wanted to change your major after you SIRed to one of the schools? Or did you just tell both schools you wanted to change majors?

Haha, sorry. I'm not really sure what you meant so I just wanted to clarify. :)

UCSB: i didnt accept my SIR yet and i had to email them to let them know that i wanted to change my major. and about a week later they informed me that ive successfully been admitted to their pre-psych major. to get into the actual psychology major i have to maintain at least a 2.75 in my major courses and take 2 upper division psych courses at UCSB then i can petition for full major. i accepted my SIR after changing my major.

UCSC: they have a page where you can change your major. i just selected psych and VOILA! major changed.

when i came to uci as a freshman, i was able to change my major online AFTER submitting SIR. i would guess for transfers its the same. I changed from chemical engineering to biomedical engineering so maybe it's online within the school?

I havent heard from UCI either. youre not the only one. Supposably theyre short on staff this year.

Im going to UCSB for sure. I didnt wait on UCI though it was my first choice before. I learned that theyre even with academics but UCSB obviously has a better social scene. UCI is also a commuter school and filled with bitter UCLA and UCB rejects.

UCSB does have a great psychology program not as great as UCLA or UCB though... :( oh well.

"UCI is also a commuter school and filled with bitter UCLA and UCB rejects."

it's true. a lot of the people always mention so and so goes to LA and what not. or they talk about LA as if they go to the school. I think Cal and UCLA sweaters are just as popular as UCI ones. lol
