Too Late to ED?

Hi
I am in deep confusion on whether to apply to Columbia ED or not because I am wary of the Core and what other chances I will get later on.
But, I feel like I am more likely to get accepted ED over regular.
I haven't even sent in Part 1 yet but I think I can cram it all in one-two weeks?
Is it really too late for me? Would great grades and EC, plus a parent employee, seem better as ED or regular?

You should apply ED if and only if you are ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that Columbia is your first choice. Otherwise, if you are admitted, you will always wonder “what if?”.

You have plenty of time to prepare an ED application. My son did it in a couple of weeks.

I believe that any perception that admissions odds increase with ED are a total myth, unless you are a URM, legacy, recruited athlete or development candidate. I don’t know whether your status as the child of an employee has any impact.

Thank you.

I realized that Columbia is and always has been my first choice. But I feel like I need more time so I am applying regular. I think you are right, ED would not affect my chances significantly.

hey bud, how can columbia be your top choice if you are wary of the Core?

honestly the Core is the best academic experience you could have (so great other schools copied it). and if your parent works at columbia - applying ED is a sure advantage. so i disagree with pbr here.

admissionsgeek, i realized after thinking about it a lot that the Core actually sounds pretty cool. I think I just got a little nervous when looking at it first, but it really does seem like a good experience to make students well-rounded.

oh man. so it is an advantage? I hope it might help for regular too. But i’m counting on my own credentials for admission.
