I have some little things to update colleges on. I feel like these things are sort of insignificant, which is why I didn't send an update earlier but it just occurred to me that I may seem more interested if I send an update email.

I found out I'm in the Top 20/350ish in our school (doesn't release official ranks) and I medaled in an event at Science Olympiads (haha one event... we didn't even make it to states or anything).

I honestly don’t know if it is too late, but I’m in the same situation. I’m going to send it anyways, tomorrow the latest I hope…because it doesn’t hurt to try. Plus, I’ll always doubt if sending it could have made a difference xD

@RedSeven, my whole point is that these updates seem pretty insignificant. I’m pretty sure that they can tell my rank SOMEWHAT anyway (My school regularly sends 30+/350 to top 20 schools and 10+ to Cornell last year alone) so that’s covered. The medal might be significant since it’s the first medal I’ve gotten in HS (I got a bunch in middle school/9th grade when I did the middle school division so I put the 9th grade medals on my app) but the single medal in and of itself is not very impressive.

See - that’s tricky. Sending the update will indicate that you’re interested, but it could also send the wrong message about your perceived significance of the updates.

Personally, if I saw it, I’d see it as an indication that you’re interested in the school. Others might think differently.
