Too late to switch into engineering?

Hey guys,
I'm a sophomore, and I've been doing lots of major searching. I started off as a music major but quickly realized it wasn't for me. Since then I've taken care of all my GE's. To make a long story short (after taking an intro to programming class) I feel like computer science would be a fitting major for me. I'm aware of all the work it entails, but my primary concern right now is whether or not I'd even be eligible. I haven't taken any of the prerequisites for the major and I'd start that next quarter (Winter). Does anyone know?

Thanks.

You’ll need to get through the 6 classes listed by the end of spring. It’s worth realizing that if you do switch, there’ll be absolutely no hope of graduating in 4 years. Computer Science is also not going to be exactly like the intro programming class you took.

Do you know if cs 1 or 31 counts as one of the 6 classes?

Actually nevermind it’s open only to engineers :frowning:
It says I can take pic10a/10b in place of a science class. Does this mean I have to take both or either/or?

Taking both counts as one class.

off topic

does intro to programming take up a lot of time? i’m also considering switching my major to CS but I don’t know if i will like it since i’ve never taken any programming class b4

@IMShynZ

It will take up a lot of time if you aren’t good at programming. If you’re pretty decent at it, it shouldn’t take up too much time (projects will be < 10 hours each).

crap, i still wanna to do premed after if i change my major to CS… but programming requires so much time…

You generally have a project every 1-2 weeks, so it isn’t that big of a deal. Once you get into upper divs, however, that’s where the real time consumption begins :D

If you take PIC 10A the projects take < 2 hours
