I got deferred in EA, and I think this was because my SAT's were marginal for ND. I've never taken the ACT, but now have signed up for the Feb. test. Is this too late for submitting them to ND? Of course I'm going to submit my mid-term grades, and a letter about why I really want to attend ND. I'd rather not take the ACT exam, because I'm just tired of the whole application process, but I guess I'll take it if it will maybe help.

The February test is fine.

Many of my students score so much better on the ACT. I actually just had a student that was told by a school she applied at to bring her SAT up 100 points and they would reconsider her app. She couldn't bear the thought of struggling through the SAT again. I convinced her to try the ACT and she scored 150 points higher on the conversion-no time for prep either.

I know you're sick of the whole process, but if you do only one thing...I suggest buying a book of ACT practice tests and at least doing a few sections. The main complaint I hear is that students run out of time. Familiarizing yourself with the pace of the test will help.

Before you start though, I would e-mail your ND admissions person and get their input regarding the date. I have found them to be very helpful and honest.

Good Luck

Thanks for the very good advice, particularly bus52. I guess I am scared to call the admissions office for fear that I might annoy them with questions. I think you are right though about ND. They genuinely try to be honest and helpful. I shall follow your suggestions! Thanks again.
