Too late?

I'm a grade 11 student. This year I am getting way more involved in my ECs. I was already involved in grades 9 and 10, but not as much as I will be now. The thing is, I went to a really small school in grade 9 with no ECs available (wouldn't even let me start any) so I did them all outside of school. Then in grade 10 I moved and my new school offers more opportunities, but I couldn't really get any leadership opportunities since it was my first year. I was still involved in clubs and things outside of school (more leadership there) and this year I'm starting 2 clubs at school. Is it too late to do this in grade 11? Will Harvard and other Ivies think I'm just doing it last-minute to get in? I genuinely want to start my clubs this year and I would have done it last year but I just didn't have the opportunity to do so! I'm totally dedicated to the causes and I have been working with them from before, just not in school and not to this extent.

Is grade 11 too late? Or am I still ok, given my situation? Thanks.

Bump please…

Grade 11 is not too late. Besides, that’s when most other people start leading/starting clubs. In 9th grade, students don’t have enough respect from their upperclassmen to be seen as a leader in a club that has many people that are older than them. I didn’t start leading any clubs until 11th grade, when I became the leader of 3 clubs. I was the leader of all of those clubs in 11th and 12th grade and helped those clubs be extremely successul with a high level of membership. I still managed a spot on the Harvard waitlist. I know it’s not an acceptance, but hey, I was in the next 6% of applicants (I blame my lack of writing skills).

alright, thanks so much. i’m not as worried now.

The concern would be whether or not adcoms will see the increased participation as a last ditch effort to improve your application right before college apps are sent in. So whatever you do do it well.
