I’ve submitted part one of my application on the Gateway, but I haven’t started on the essays or gotten my transcript/teacher recommendations yet, and most of my interviews are late December. I’m still going to go through with the applications, but I was just wondering, should I up my pace?
((Also, I haven’t taken the SSAT’s either; I’m taking one in November but really, it’s just so I can get the feel of it. I have another test registered for December, so I get extra time to study))
Nothing’s is late that’s submitted before the deadline. For Admissions it makes no difference when you submitted your application as long as it’s before the deadline. Good luck!
Many students visit/interview then do applications. Some will visit schools then decide not to apply. You should talk to teachers soon to let them know you want a recommendation and find out the policy at your school for transcripts.
I agree with @MA2012 - you should speak to teachers and your guidance counselor now, to give them time to write recommendations. In our experience, they wrote them over the Thanksgiving break. Essays, SSATs, interviews you’re on schedule.
My DS was actually told by a Deerfield AO to not submit an application early…he said take all of the time you can to make sure it’s the best representation of you you can provide. It was very good advice and DS took it to heart! Good luck!!
As far as I’ve heard, AOs might be impressed if you get your application in early, but that doesn’t mean you should rush it. As long as your application is in before the deadline you should be fine. Be sure to contact your teachers/recs as soon as possible. Good luck!
