I am now going into my senior yr and i've tooken the SAT once which i got a 1640. I wish to retake it after i study and the next test is on October. But i don't think im ready to take it that time and i'll probally get another horrible score, so i decided to take the one on November, but my friends tell me that the colleges don't look at the SAT score if its passed October.. Is this true or can i still take it at Jan and have colleges look at it.. and im trying to apply for a CUNY or SUNY if possible.

I don't know about the specific schools you mentioned, but I know that SAT deadlines vary with colleges. Different schools have different deadlines for SAT scores, so you should check out their websites (or College Board's website) to make sure. And I think you still could take the SAT in October provided you review daily.

Sometimes you should not listen to friends:

Regular admissions schools, those that make decisions between Feb and April, generally accept scores through the December test, and many accept the Jan test.

2, If you are applying early action or early decision to one of those regular admission schools, then you will need an earlier score and the latest test accepted will be the October test or November test, depending on college.

For rolling admissions schools (which includes majority of public universities), which is those who make admission decisions as applications are received, the latest test depends on the school but almost all of those take the December test and then many accept through Jan. However, it is better for those to have an earlier test. Since decisions are made on a rolling basis and many are being admitting starting as early as Oct or Nov, the earlier you apply (and get all things in including test scores), the better your chances of admission. Both CUNY and SUNY are rolling admissions schools.
