Too lazy to dig up the old one: An Updated List.

Yarr. Am bored, procrastinating. Again.

So...yeah. Chances at:
Ivies (and equal caliber)
JHU
UVA
UCs (all)
Lehigh
Carnegie Mellon
Northwestern
Brandeis
U of MD (College Park) (Dad is alumni)
William & Mary
U of Minnesota (Dad is alumni)
U of Wisconsin
VTech
SUNY (all)
USC
JMU (LOL if I don't get in - its my safety)

Or do I suck more than I thought? Any I shouldn't waste time applying to?

Ethnicity: Asian (F). Durnit. Makes this process even more painful.
Residence: Small city in backwaters VA
School: Public
GPA: 4.32 UW, 4.0W (UW might go up, cuz I'm a junior; projected 4.47 by senior year)
Rank: 1/...I forget. 400 or so.
SAT I: 2200~2300 (projected) (will retake)
SAT II: None yet... But will take Math II, Bio, Physics, maybe more. 700s projected.
AP Exams: 5 AP Euro, projected range 4-5 on others.
Planned APs: AP USH, AP Calc AB, AP Stat, AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Physics AB (C is not offered), AP Lit, AP Comp Sci, AP USG, possibly AP Psychology/Enviro/Music Theory

Here's where it goes downhill.
EC's: Violin, projected 8 years
Ecology Club, Secretary in junior year, possibly President or VP senior
Creative Writing Club, possibly an officer senior year
Academic Team, not in junior year (no time...)
Volunteer 100~200 hours, library, Children's Museum, possibly others (I HATE doing community service just to buffer my app, so I don't)
Irregular work at a party planning/catering service
Possible study at Merck Stonewall Plant (cuz my dad works there, LOL, and is trying to arrange something)
Possible regular work at department stores, etc.
Possible irregular work as "model" (LOL) at local company for webpage...ACK.
Likely work at local division of Department of Energy.
Possible attendance of summer Governor's School.

Awards:
-Possible NMS crap.
-Loads of school crap.
-Possible Olympiad junk (hey, not crap!).

I 5ux0r5 at sports like a vacuum/singularity/lollipop.

I'm not really all that devoted to anything. Bad, I know. Been getting into Ecology Club, though.

The irregularity of the work is due to the nature of the work, not my lack of devotion, just as a note.

Wow, after reading all the threads here, I'm feeling depressed. And stupid. You people sure know how to quash a girl's hopes. This list seems woefully paltry.

Though, the majority of those programs (like NIH, etc) aren't accessible here, the city in nowhere-in-general-land, surrounded by farms (and the occasional town).

Why couldn't I have been born Eskimo (or Anasazi, LOL) or something? Anything but Asian?

J/k, but really.

...The chickens got out of their pens today, and a couple were mangled in the road in front of our school. Why couldn't I have gone to a oddball place?

PrescitedEntity:

UCB/UCLA: Safe Match (out of state)
UCSD: Safety (out of state)
UCI/UCD/UCSB: Safety (out of state)
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Super Safety (out of state)

Methinks you're wrong about UCB (can't possibly be that easy to get into), but that's reassuring.

yeah, UCB is a high-match/reach for you b/c of the out of state. Slim chances at the most selective Ivy League schools, other than that you look good. WHY are you applying to so many schools? you can't possibly have even a slight desire to go to some of those. Every SUNY school? Every UC? You need to slim those down a bit, IMO.

I'm...not? :p

I'm using this to hopefully narrow down a list of schools to apply to.

Are all the Ivies too far above me to waste my time applying for?

No, I think you should apply to Cornell, Dartmouth, among otehrs and potentially HYPSM.

Actually, I agree with Flopsy also.

UCB/UCLA: Safe Match (OOS)
UCSD: Safety (OOS)
UCI/UCD/UCSB: Safety (OOS)
UCSC/UCR: Super Safety (OOS)
UCM: Super Super Safety (OOS)

How is UCB a safe match?

I thought UCB was pretty prestigious?

Race doesn't matter. Yay 209!

4.0 UW GPA is awesome, especially since your SAT scores are way above the average (2000ish) if you can go 2200+. (My UW GPA was 3.67)

700+ SAT IIs are also above average at Cal.

APs are Great.

ECs are worth at max very little and sometimes next to nothing for Cal. (I had the grand total of ZERO ECs and I got accepted to Berkeley)

You probably could write a good essay about being stuck in backwater VA, especially if near WV.

Should definitely get into Berkeley unless you apply to be in Engineering, then it becomes a match school since it is way more competitive than L&S admissions.

Engineering is a consideration, but I'm leaning towards out-and-out physics, biochemistry, or biophysics.
